Dr. Nicolas Verhoeven

Nicolas has spent the last 11 years incessantly analyzing studies, which supplemented his 10 years of hands-on research throughout an undergraduate experience in Nutrition Science, a Masters education in Exercise Physiology, and a PhD in Molecular Medicine.

Now, he dedicates all of his time to analyzing the literature in an attempt to learn more about physiology and nutrition and keep pushing his knowledge forward.

Dr. Verhoeven's readings have sent him down rabbit holes of hundreds of studies on various supplements, best practices and more.

On the other hand, his hands-on research was focused on mitochondrial function, as well as some other areas of cell biology (autophagy, peroxisome biogenesis). While he still focus some time on keeping up with mitochondrial research, he spreads out across all the most exciting medical research. His aim is to bridge the gap between complex physiological concepts researchers discover and the public’s understanding of those concepts

Dr. Verhoeven also runs the YouTube channel @Physionic with more than 250 thousand subscribers. His channel includes over 700 videos containing detailed multi-study analyses, clear explanations of mechanisms underlying the results, and a sprinkling of cheeky humor. He's goal is to help people learn more about their body, from the macro to the micro.
